Water's calm, air is tense

Zola sat at the waters edge, looking out at the water. It was later at night, and the moon reflected off of the still waters. The waters eased some of the tension that vibrated in the air.

Zex was walking by the river again, on his way to the Light Fort. He saw Zola by the water.

Her eyes stayed trained to the water, oblivious to the light behind her. Smiling slightly, Zolas finger slightly traced the water, happily causing ripples in the calm water.

Zex tapped Zola."What are you doing here, Dark?"

Zola yelped, flinching away from his touch. "It's quiet....peaceful. I come here to think." she whispered, "What're you doing here."

Reyna hadn't been too far behind Zex when she saw him stop and talk to the girl by the river. Curious as to what was going on, she walked up to the two quietly. "What's going on?" She asked them, not knowing Zola was a Dark.

"Oh, hey Reyna," Zex said as Reyna came over to Zola and him. "Just seeing what the Dark is doing over here."

Zola flinched slightly, "I have a name, you know." she whispered. Everything was based off of the families..

Reyna blinked at Zola for a moment before a small smile spread across her face. "Oh, hello. I'm Reyna. You are..?" She asked as politely as she could with a calm expression.

"Yeah..if you don't want me calling you Dark all the time, who are you?" Zex asked as he turned to face Zola again.

She stood, wanting to not feel small anymore. "My name is Zola." she said softly, "I am Edens little sister."

"Eden?" The name sounded familiar, but she couldn't put a face to it. "Well, it's nice to meet you, Zola!" She chimed.

"Yeah, and I would kill you now, but you haven't caused me that much trouble," Zex said. "Not like another Dark I know...." he began to trail off.

Zola gasped softly, and backed away from them. "I'll leave you two in peace now.." she whispered, before darting off towards the trees.

Zex started to follow Zola. "Got nothing else to do....might as well," he said to himself.

Thinking she was a good distance away, Zola sat down behind a great oak tree. Her hands were shaking, and she tried to calm down. I would kill you.. His words echoed in her mind.

Zex started walking quietly to avoid being heard as he approached the great oak tree. He stood at the other side of the tree and listened, to see if Zola was planning to attack.

"I know you're there." Zola called out softly. After years of training oneself to be silent, it was easy to pick out sudden changes in the air. "The question is, are you going to kill me or not?"

"Nah," Zex said as he walked over to face Zola. "Like I said, you haven't caused me any trouble."

"I'm a Dark though, and you are a Light. Our families hate each other (Romeo and Julliet reference :DD ), and you are supposed to kill me." Zola said, looking up at him.

"Well, do you think I care about that, Zola?" retorted Zex.

She flinched. His words, though simple, left a sting on her. Instead of answering him with words, she shrugged; an action that Zola had perfected over the years.

Zex sat down next to Zola. "Well I don't care," he said.

Zola shrugged away from him slightly. "You should," she whispered, "My sister is going to skin my behind for this.."

Zex looked over at Zola. "Maybe she will, but maybe she won't," Zex whispered, as he started to be more calm and now thinking Zola wasn't going to attack him.
